Cod War - The deeply unpleasant game of fish and ships… and rampant nationalism.

The North Sea nestles neatly between the coastlines of many Northern European nations. For thousands of years the bountiful waters have supplied the diverse peoples of Europe with succulent fresh fish. And there is one fish in particular that is valued above all others as a common staple… cod.
Unfortunately… modern factory trawlers have overfished these chilly waters and the prized cod is fast diminishing in numbers. European governments have tried to agree a strategy for increasing cod stocks by imposing fishing quotas on all nations… but greed, self interest and a general distrust of everyone else has led to a breaking of previous accords. Acrimony and suspicion have set country against country... as individual nations now send their trawlers to haul in as much cod as is possible before there is no cod left to catch. Diplomatic efforts come to nothing and Gunboat Diplomacy rules the waves. Naval vessels scythe their paths across the surf, protecting their own nation’s trawlers and impeding the operations of their neighbours.
It is every nation state for itself in a last ditch grab for this precious, glistening prize.
Guide your country to success by seizing the largest haul of cod… because your country is truly the most principled and deserving… while the rest are just a bunch of greedy, interfering, double-crossing foreigners!
