In Cairo Bound you will assume the identity of one of six well-heeled characters from the early 1920s.
As an enthusiastic Egyptologist, you will be competing for the Lord Carnarvon Grand Egyptology Prize. Lord Carnarvon has offered this prize to the first Egyptologist to return to Cairo having overseen an archaeological investigation at seven different desert locations.
The plundering of antique Egyptian artefacts is all the rage in 1922, however, the ancient Egyptian gods see all… and they are well aware of your grasping activities. They hold you in contempt and will endeavour to thwart you as you travel across the inhospitable desert terrain.
Collect the valuable (and the not so valuable) ancient Egyptian relics… carefully monitor your supply of water… traverse the mighty Nile… evade Anubis… and explore the mummy infested passageways within the Great Pyramid.
Be you cunning or ruthless, fair-minded or dim… your fate rests firmly in the hands of some very unhappy gods. But take heart… for a jolly good plan and a slice of luck may still deliver you into the lap of sweet victory.
And as every self-respecting desert explorer knows… if you look after your camel, your camel will look after you… probably.

The object of the game is to be the first player to return to Cairo having placed an Excavation Marker at all seven of the sites of special archaeological interest.
En route to Cairo, you should attempt to accumulate as many ancient Egyptian artefacts as you can… to be sold at the Cairo Grand Auction. The more Auction Points accrued… the greater the likelihood of victory.
However, the exact victory condition will not be known until the game’s end… and participants would do well to remember that above all… Cairo Bound is most definitely a race.
